Decals can be made with a variety of materials consisting of retro-reflective polyester, vinyl, standard polyester or latex impregnated paper. Most Licensing Decals are made of a destructible reflective, polyester glass imbedded material, with an aggressive permanent adhesive. The label is made so that it is brittle and will destruct itself when removed (or handled wrong). A UV clear protective over coat is used to exceed the weather resistance requirements of the decal. RR Donnelley offers a coating system that provides a very strong and weather resistant protective top or bottom coating.
The majority of decals are two-color and have at least one security feature. These labels need to have excellent fade resistance, security features, and weather resistance. The product can be made as a label-form combination, sheeted, pouched, pressure seal or other custom constructions.
